How does the club work?
Every two months JV sends you two bottles of wine carefully handselected from our list of artisan California producers. These wines are made in very small quantities and are often sold by strict allocation. We include information on the wines and wineries, as well as fun and educational information about the grape varieties, wine regions, or the foods the wines pair best with.
What else do you get?
In addition to the wine shipments and special club letter, our Wine Discovery Club Members will also be eligible for tasting passes at the store. These events have become a very popular way to learn about the world of wine and meet some of the fascinating personalities behind it.
Want to buy more wine?
After receiving the shipment, wine club members have 45 days to purchase additional bottles of the wines with a 10% discount on six bottles or more. Please note that shipping costs for these additional purchases will be charged and will vary based on your location and the quantity of wine purchased. Note: Many of the wines we include in shipments have very limited availability, so all additional sales are contingent on the supply of the particular bottling.
Choose from two levels of the club
Gold Discovery Club $89.99 per shipment
Every two months you will receive two bottles of exceptional boutique wine. These producers are hand selected and from approved American Viticulture Areas, such as Stag's Leap AVA, Santa Cruz AVA, Alexander Valley AVA or Rutherford AVA. These wines are made in very limited production from one barrel to a few hundred cases and represent the best these areas produce. Reds in the Gold Level could be approachable now with some decanting time and will benefit from cellar aging. Some past examples were Dominus, White Rock, Ruston, Corison, and Desante.
Silver Discovery Club $59.99 per shipment
Every two months you will receive two bottles of finely crafted California wines. These wines will be chosen from American Appellations, such as Napa Valley, Sonoma Valley, Central Coast, Sierra Foothills, or Santa Barbara. These wines are made with slightly larger production but still have very limited distribution. Reds in this level are drinking perfectly right now or could be cellared for a few months if desired. Some past examples were Bennett Family, Bokisch, Napa Wine Co., Ruston, and Sawyer.
The charge for each level covers the two selected bottles of wine, the JV Wine and Spirits newsletter (which includes information on the wines and wineries, as well as fun and educational information about the grape varieties, wine regions or the foods that pair best with the wines). and shipping and handling. For example, summer may include a white wine, while winter months may include two reds. We will not ship only whites.
