Returns, Exchanges, Credits*
We guarantee to ship sound, stable product with the utmost care. If the wine you receive is faulty, you may return it within one week for a refund or an exchange for another product.
Cork taint: Wines that are un-sound as a result of winemaking, i.e. re-fermenting wine or cork taint can be exchanged by contacting us. We may require the return of the bottle for analysis; you must return ¾ of a bottle for testing.
Natural occurrences: Potassium sodium, tartrate crystal drop or sediment drop is not a defect and not returnable. These are natural occurrences and common with smaller winemakers who do not manipulate the wine with cold stabilization or filtering. The appearance of these two processes are natural and do not affect the quality of this hand-made product.
Cork sealing issues: Many of the very small boutique wines are hand made and you may experience some cork leakage or staining. This is a common occurrence after shipping especially for larger format bottles. To remedy this situation please stand your shipment up for two weeks to reset the corks and then lay them down as you normally would for storage. Leakage is not a sign of damage.
Older Vintages: Following the wine trade tradition, all bottles ten years or older are purchased at the buyer's risk. We taste every wine that comes in and can give you an up to date analysis of all of our older vintages. All wine that we sell is sound and correct. However, some circumstances are not under our control and cannot be accounted for in a decade of storage.
PLEASE KEEP IN MIND: Wine is a living entity and will taste differently if opened immediately after shipping. For optimal wine quality, allow your wine to “rest and re-group” itself for at least two to four weeks before opening.
If you need to return something, please do the following:
- Call JV Wines and Spirits and explain the reason for return and whether you want a refund, a replacement, or an exchange.
- You will be given a return code to write on the outside of the box.
- Please pack and seal the item(s) securely.
- Use the return address on your invoice.
- Packages must be returned prepaid; we cannot accept COD deliveries. We will refund shipping charges only if we have sent the wrong item or the item is defective.
- If replaced, we also will pay shipping costs for items sent in exchange.
Credit card refunds:
For your security, all credits will be placed on the credit card used for the original purchase. Please allow 1-2 billing cycles for the credit to appear on your statement.
*Cancelled and/or returned orders are subject to a 25% restocking fee.
Shipping Insurance
Damage during shipment: Shipping Insurance will cover wine damaged in its shipping container. It also covers non-delivery, theft from vehicle or loss during delivery. Shipments must be signed for at the address indicated on the invoice, by an adult. Doormen or concierges can accept for the building delivery. Damaged shipping boxes should be noted on the signed receipt at the time of acceptance, in case of damage to the enclosed product upon opening.
Heat and Cold: Damage due to temperature changes are not covered by insurance. To assure minimum contact with the elements during shipment, all wine is stored in an air-conditioned environment and then shipped within 7 days in a sealed Styrofoam crate.

Tax
California sales tax only applies to wines being shipped in California. There is no sales tax charged for wine sales and shipments made through any other states.
Bottle limits & availability
In some instances, state law regulates product availability and/or wine purchase limitations. Working within state and local laws may prevent our ability to fulfill order requests. We are currently licensed to ship wine to 24 states. Certain states allow a specific number of bottles per order. Some wines are extremely limited, we will post limits on those wines indicating what allotments per order can be obtained. Additional shipments to the same name, address or credit card numbers will be refused from the system. Due to the popularity of any single vintage, we will advise you ASAP in the event that an item has been depleted. Finalization of the ordering procedure is not a guarantee that an item is in stock.
Out of Stock Items
Though we continually monitor inventory to ensure product availability, there are times when products may be out of stock. If that occurs, wine representatives are available to suggest comparable substitutions. In cases where a substitution is necessary, we will email you before shipping and provide the option to select other items. If you decide not to make a substitution, we will ship available items minus the out of stock item(s) or cancel the order if you prefer to do so. Your credit card will not be charged until we ship your order, and you will not be charged for out-of-stock items.
